These made-to-last planters have been designed to sit wherever you'd like a feature flower display, a vegetable bed or maybe a convenient and accessible herb garden.
Deep enough to accommodate root crops, like potatoes and to support specimen shrubs like buxus/box topiary or bamboo screening and small trees
The planting level to 18.5" allows easy level planting, maintenance and harvesting.
We line these troughs with strong plastic waterproof membrane to keep dampness away from the internal timber and thus reduce the chances of rot and decay. The preserved timber is expected to last at least 15 years and longer if retreated with a proprietary brand outdoor timber preservative. Holes or slits will need to cut into the lining to allow drainage. When asked to fill and plant this troughs we cut many leaf shaped drainage holes to allow as much drainage as possible while still protecting the timber from soil and dampness.
They come in either natural pine (natural, no treatment necessary) or a dark oak (stain) or painted in Farrow and Ball Downpipe (finished with primer and 2 coats of a microporous commercial grade exterior paint).
